Grandma's Visit 2010
Monday, June 07, 2010

Just got back from our first visit to Grandma's house this year with Becky, Aner, and Jesse!

The drives up and back went fast. It was kinda funny, we saw a black nun in a junky blue car on the way up and then we stopped to eat, carried on, and stopped at a wayside...to have her pull up as we were getting out of the car. Ha! Then Becky got us pulled over right outside of Buffalo but we got off with a warning. Phew!

The visit was nice, though it wouldn't stop raining long enough for us to start a fire! Argh! Jesse and Bryce had fun together, and Becky was in demand from dawn until dusk. Jesse got scratched by a neighbor's wild-looking cat so we had to take him to the Winona emergency clinic and get a tetanus shot. I realized that Winona is Morganville (creepy gate that looks just like the "welcome to Morganville" sign in the book, coffee shop called Solid Grounds, tiny university town). We saw more of our Uncle Bob than ever, and a lot of interesting stories were shared, but this one was the most interesting;

My cousin, Aubrey, is friends with a young couple. They were sleeping in their house one night with the baby in their bed when they heard a loud bang. The husband went out in the hall, flipped on the light, and the front door was wide open. He ran back in the room and told his wife to hide in the closet with the baby while he sat against the door and called 911. The police were dispatched and several minutes later, the bedroom door handle turned. The husband asked into the phone, 'Is that the police?' and the dispatcher said it was...oh wait, no, they were at the wrong location. Eventually the police got there and whoever had broken in disappeared, though the wife said she could hear someone rummaging through the bathroom on the other side of the closet. Apparently someone was looking for prescription drugs or something but they were lucky to be okay. Talk about terrifying!

And now the 2 weeks from hell. Christie will be gone Thursday through Tuesday, so I will have to work 9 hours for 4 days. Ugh.

I'll go drool over Johnny a while in Alice in Wonderland. Sweet dreams...

"I don't dare to touch your hand
I don't dare to think of you
In a physical way
And I don't know how you smell...
I'd pay to visit you on rainy Sundays
I'll maybe tell you all about it someday" "Funny Little Frog", Belle & Sebastian
